Eavestroughing systems without Leaf Guard generally need to be cleaned out twice a year, in spring and fall to function optimally. If the damage is less severe, tuckpointing (re-grouting the mortar) can restore strength. For homes with upgraded high-efficiency furnaces and water heaters, old chimneys may no longer be needed and can be decommissioned and removed below the roof.
